Draft Terms of Reference for the FAI Regional Referee Committees (as per UEFA Referee Convention 2006)

Referees are essential in order to uphold the values of fair play and also to protect the players and the game. This Committee therefore aims to enhance the status and education of match officials (referee,
assistant referee and fourth official) and refereeing specialists (referee instructors, referee observers, referee liaison officers and refereeing administrators), who have a significant role to play in modern football.

The Football Association of Ireland is a party to the UEFA Referee Convention. It is responsible for and will continue to handle its own refereeing matters in accordance with the applicable UEFA minimum standards and these will be assessed regularly by the competent UEFA body.
