Sludden will referee an inter-county game for
the first time since the ill-fated Leinster
final when the Dr McKenna Cup gets underway.
Sludden, who has
not refereed since the game in which he allowed
Joe Sheridans late winning goal for Meath last
July, will take charge of the Ulster
competitions tie between Armagh and Antrim on
January 9.
The summer's major Croke Park controversy saw
Sheridan illegally throw the ball over the line
as the late goal saw his side overtake Louth and
claim the Leinster crown. What followed were
chaotic scenes as unhappy Louth fans barged onto
the pitch and some attempted to physically
assault referee Sludden.
Now, after some time out of the limelight, the
Tyrone official will be in the middle again
early in the New Year.
Well done and
good luck on your return to where you belong.
