The FAI Referee Department propose to hold a Referee Observer Introductory Course in the near future, to assist us in planning we are seeking expressions of interest.
The introductory course expression of interest portal is open to all candidates that have:
- five years’ experience as a referee in good standing at grassroots level (Category 4 or above) or at Elite level
Candidates must not be a member of an executive committee of an affiliate within the FAI or hold a role within football, that is in conflict with the role of Referee Observer.
The role specification is included here for your information – “FAI Referee Observer Role Spec”
Following the successful pilot of the “Dual Role Observer” the NRC have also approved this project which will allow current active referees to apply for a role as observer and continue to referee. Dual role observers i.e. a referee that also hold an observer licence cannot:
- Observe in the same league that they are refereeing in
- Observe at the same level (elite, adult, underage) they are refereeing at.
- Appoint referees to matches whilst they carry out the dual roles of Observing – Refereeing.
You can access the expression of interest form here – https://forms.office.com/e/JA6egTkkfg
The closing date for expressions on interest is Friday 3rd November 2023.
