Dear Referee,
We hope you are well as we continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges presented to all of us. As you will be aware all football activity is suspended until January 31st when the situation will be reviewed. Please note the following:
- The current Government Level 5 Guidelines DO NOT ALLOW for any collective training for referees with the exception of the Elite Referee Panel
- The current Government Level 5 Guidelines DO NOT ALLOW for any adult amateur, Futsal and underage football activity (games, trials or assessments) including the underage National Leagues and all schoolboy and schoolgirl football. Referees must not accept appointments to any games until further notice
- The current Government Level 5 Guidelines ALLOW for individual training only
- Senior SSE Airtricity League and Senior Women’s National League teams are exempt from these restrictions.
As we move forward into 2021 it is important that we keep all referees up to date with the current situation regarding a return to football. The FAI is committed to getting all levels of the game back on the pitch as soon as we can and are working with Sport Ireland as they formulate a plan to facilitate a return for all competitive sport . We are also respectful of the need for these new Government Guidelines in the wake of the alarming rise in COVID-19 numbers and we commend all our referees for their adherence to Government guidelines to date and have reconfirmed to Sport Ireland our ongoing commitment to the advice issued by all Government agencies.
If you have any questions in relation to this matter please contact us at referees@fai.ie
Stay safe
